Whether you are looking to lose 10 pounds or 50, weight loss is difficult. The best way to lose weight is to eat a healthy diet and exercise. Accelerated weight loss will be more difficult. You will need to consume less calories and exercise more than you would on a regular weight loss plan.

Eating Healthy

Eating healthy is necessary for weight loss. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans reports that a healthy diet is one that includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy and whole grains. Your diet should include lean proteins, such as, fish, beans, eggs, poultry and nuts. It should also be low in saturated and trans fats. Eating healthy is important to weight loss. However, to lose weight quickly, you need to keep your calorie intake low, even while eating healthy foods.

Fasting

Fasting is an effective way to accelerate weight loss. According to the All About Fasting website, In the beginning of your fast, you will see large amounts of weight loss, mostly water weight. You will likely gain any water weight back when your fast is finished. However, you should see some sustained weight loss as well, an average of 1 lb. for each day of fasting, reports All About Fasting.

Vegetarian

According to MayoClinic.com, vegetarians, on average, eat fewer calories and fat. This causes them to weigh less than non-vegetarians. Vegetarians can attribute their weight to their diet, which is high in fruits and vegetables. A vegetarian diet can aid in accelerated weight loss if you adhere to it.

Calories

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that losing weight at a gradual, steady pace of 1 lb. to 2 lbs. a week works best for long-term weight loss. In order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you take in. According to the CDC, 1 lb. is the equivalent of 3,500 calories. You will have to cut back 500 to 1,000 calories a day to lose 1 lb. to 2 lbs. a week. If you want to accelerate your weight loss, you will need to cut back or burn more calories.

Exercise

According to the American Heart Association, besides aiding in weight loss, exercise reduces stomach fat and preserves muscle during weight loss. The amount of exercise needed for weight loss varies for each person. The AHA recommends 30 minutes of exercise at least five days a week. But if you want to accelerate your weight loss, more physical activity will be necessary.
