Many people have allergies to things such as cats, peanuts other types of foods. One type of allergy that affects foods and environment exposure is mold allergies. If you are allergic to mold, a type of fungus, you should avoid food sources that are processed using mold or naturally contain mold, reports the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Otherwise, you may experience symptoms like skin dryness, breathing difficulties and headaches.
Fresh Fruit
Well-washed fresh fruit such as pears, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, peaches and apples are beneficial to your mold elimination diet. Fresh fruits are acceptable for mold allergy patient because they are normally not treated with mold or fungus during chemical or manufacturing processes. Dried fruits like dried apples, prunes and raisins are normally treated with mold during chemical processing, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Most of the time, mold is not listed as an ingredient on the dried fruit packaging labels.
Yogurt
Cheese like brie, blue cheese and Camembert are all aged to produce distinctive flavors and includes mold. As a result, you should add yogurt to your mold elimination diet to receive the normal amount of calcium that dairy products provide. Although yogurt is nutritionally comparable to cheese, it contains no traces of mold. According to MSNBC, yogurt also contains probiotics or healthy bacteria that can protect your body from infections or boost the immune system.
Sparkling Cider
Wine is typically produced using mold and should be added to your mold elimination diet. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation notes that red wines and other types of wine often contain histamine, which can produce side effects in mold allergy patients. However, you can still enjoy bubbly beverages and partake in parties by drinking sparkling cider, which makes a beneficial, mold-free substitute for wine.
Homemade Salad Dressing
Eating salads is another challenge for mold allergy patients. Salad dressings often contain mold because cheeses, sour cream, buttermilk and vinegar are chemically produced using several types of molds, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Vinegar is a primary ingredient in different commercial salad dressings. A healthy idea for mold allergy patients is to make a homemade salad dressing, free of mold, using ingredients such as blended tofu, yogurt, olive oil and spices. This will ensure that your salad dressing will contain little or no amounts of mold.
