The ProForm 580 SI is a folding treadmill designed to help users perform an aerobic workout from home. The device's features include six preset exercise programs, an adjustable incline setting and a built-in pulse monitor. Regular use of the 580 SI may cause the treadmill's walking belt to wear out over time. To install a replacement component, you must partially disassemble the device's base unit. After installation, an application of lubricant to the walking deck will help to keep the new belt from wearing out prematurely.
Step 1
Set the treadmill's power switch to the "off" position and remove the power plug from its outlet. Remove the four screws that secure the motor hood to the front of the treadmill's base. Lift the motor hood upward until it detaches, then set it aside.
Step 2
Remove the four screws that secure the end cap to the rear of the treadmill's base. Pull the end cap off of the base and set it aside. Remove the side rails from the walking deck. Remove the rear adjustment bolts from the rear roller. Slide the rear roller free of the walking belt.
Step 3
Remove the drive belt from the left end of the front roller. Remove the front adjustment bolt installed on the right end of the roller. Slide the front roller free of the walking belt.
Step 4
Remove the eight screws that secure the walking platform to the treadmill's base. Lift the base upward and remove it from the old walking belt. Slide the base into the new walking belt. Return the platform to the base and reinstall the previously removed screws.
Step 5
Slide the front roller through the front end of the walking belt. Reinstall the front adjustment bolt in the right end of the roller. Reconnect the drive belt to the left end of the roller. Slide the rear roller through the rear end of the walking belt. Reinstall the rear adjustment bolts. Reinstall the side rails.
Step 6
Fit the end cap over the rear of the treadmill's base and reinstall the previously removed screws. Return the motor hood to its original location and reinstall the previously removed screws. Lift the walking belt upward and apply lubricant to the surface of the walking platform.
Step 7
Plug the treadmill's power cord back into the outlet and set the power switch to the "on" position. Step onto the side rails and clip the safety key to your waistband. Insert the key into the console and press the "Start" button. Walk on the treadmill for five minutes, then remove the safety key and dismount the device.
