In the summer, the last thing you want to deal with is cakey makeup and high-maintenance hair. Besides the fact that you're usually on the go and don't have time to fuss with a drawn-out beauty routine, heavy makeup and super-coiffed hair doesn't look at home at a beach party or barbecue. Simplify your summer beauty routine so that you look fresh and natural, and have more time for fun and sun.
Step 1
Shape your eyebrows. Plucking, waxing or otherwise shaping your brows carefully will help you need less makeup. Clean brows open up your face so that you don't need so much eye makeup to define your eyes. Just remove any stray hairs and create an arch directly above the center of your eye.

Place the heavy foundation on the shelf and streamline your makeup process by using a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher. A tinted moisturizer will give you the coverage that you need, as well as give your skin much needed summer hydration and protection from the sun.

Apply an all-over color on your lips, cheeks and eyes for a no fuss, less maintenance look that is perfect for summer activities. A rose-colored gold face stick will glide easily all over your face. Blend to create a sun-kissed look and skip the eyeshadow, blush and lipstick.
Step 4
Choose waterproof mascara, and apply instead of eyeliner. Waterproof mascara is a must for hot summer months, when you're bound to sweat or maybe go for an impromptu swim. You don't want to have to worry about your mascara running. To use it instead of eyeliner, place the wand as close to the eyelash roots and wiggle, before sweeping up. This will deposit pigment near the line, looking like eyeliner but skipping the eyeliner step altogether.
Step 5
Streamline your hairstyling process. Instead of using all of your heated styling tools, go from wet hair to styled hair in one step by scrunching in a salt-water based spray that is meant to give your hair beachy waves. Just spray liberally, shake it through and allow to air dry for low-maintenance waves that are natural and beautiful.
