If you are looking for a good clean shave, starting with the right razor is essential. Both disposable and electric razors work well for getting rid of rough stubble and long, coarse hair growth. A disposable razor may be a better option for you than an electric razor, depending on your budget and lifestyle. Some people prefer to use both, depending on their needs and travel expectations.

Identification

Disposable razor handles are generally made from plastic materials to make them lightweight, according to Ayurvedic Cure. Some have an easy-grip handle so they don't slip. Disposable razors may also have moisturizing extracts and oils that soften the skin. Containing anywhere from one to four blades, disposable razors generate a close shave. Many have colorful designs and contoured shapes to distinguish between men's and women's varieties. Electric razors can be bulky and heavy and have a bothersome cord.

Benefits

One benefit of a disposable razor over an electric razor is portability. After a few uses, the razor can be thrown away. The blades are always sharp on a new disposable razor to reduce the risk of scratches. They are lightweight and easy to transport and store in your bag or suitcase. You can purchase different colors and styles to differentiate between family members. An electric razor is longer lasting, self cleans and can be used without shaving cream, unlike most disposable razors. Electric razors easily tackle long, coarse hairs better than most disposables. Electric razors may be gentler to the skin and reduce the appearance of bumps and redness. Both disposable-head razors and electric razors come with a vibrating option. Popular Mechanics reports that a vibrating razor helps to ripple the skin, making the hair stand out for better cutting access.

Types

Electric razors are beneficial if you shave often. A rotary style has circular spinning blades to follow the contours of the face. A foil electric razor contains small sharp blades in between steel foils, allowing it to oscillate to remove hairs. Disposable varieties can be basic varieties with a plastic handle and one blade or they can have swivel heads or disposable heads. Some disposable razors are scented.

Availability

Disposable razors can be obtained at most retail merchants or drug stores globally. They range from off-brand affordable single-blade razors to multi-blade disposables with popular name brands. Fine retailers, private hair dressers and specialty stores often carry some of the best brands for electric razors. Specialty stores may even let you try an electric shaver model before you buy it.

Effects

If you are looking for something for light shaving days, choose a disposable razor. For a thick beard and side-burn trim, opt for an electric razor. An electric razor generally comes with a carrying case and cleaning unit so you can take it with you as you travel, as opposed to most disposables, which don't have carrying cases.
