Creamy Jif peanut butter has been a hit from the moment it was introduced in 1958 by the J.M. Smucker company. This high-calorie food is rich in protein and minerals. Peanut butter is versatile and can be used in breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert dishes.

A 2-tbsp. serving of the creamy or extra crunchy Jif Regular Peanut Butter contains 190 calories, according to the Jif website. With 72 percent of the calories being derived from fat, you should limit your daily consumption of peanut butter.

Nutrition

Each 2-tbsp. serving of peanut butter contains 16 g fat, 0 mg cholesterol, 150 mg sodium, 7 g carbohydrates, 2 g fiber, 3 g sugar and 7 g protein. Based upon the daily recommended value, a serving of peanut butter supplies 20 percent niacin, 15 percent vitamin E, 4 percent iron and 2 percent riboflavin.

Varieties

The J.M. Smucker Company produces several varieties of peanut butter for the public. These varieties include the creamy or extra crunchy Jif Regular Peanut Butter, Jif Reduced Peanut Butter Spread which contains one-quarter less fat than the regular peanut butter, Jif Omega-3 Peanut Butter, Simply Jif Peanut Butter with reduced sodium and one-third less sugar than the regular peanut butter and Jif Natural Peanut Butter Spread.
