Hydrogen peroxide is an effective denture cleaner and disinfectant. It works so well, in fact, that it's the base ingredient in commercial denture soaks. If you're out of your regular cleaner, or if you're looking for a more cost-effective way to keep your dentures fresh, a 3 percent hydrogen peroxide rinse, followed by some gentle brushing will get the job done.
Step 1
Pour 1/2 cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide into a glass or bowl.
Step 2
Add in 1/2 cup water and swirl the two together.
Step 3
Gently drop in your dentures and leave them to soak for 30 minutes.
Step 4
Pour off the peroxide and water, then rinse your dentures in running water.
Step 5
Brush surface stains and build-up away with a denture brush or a soft, nylon toothbrush. Don't use a regular tooth brush because it's too abrasive and can damage your dentures.
Step 6
Rinse well and leave your dentures in a cup of water overnight so they don't dry out.
