Saunas have long been heralded for their health benefits. Sauna Health Benefits says high heat, low humidity and lots of sweating creates a healthy environment to excrete toxins from the body. Sauna belts work in much the same way. The sauna belt is based on the philosophy of body wrapping, which can help in healing skin problems, tone and tighten the skin, improve circulation, alleviate muscle and joint pain, detoxify the body and help eliminate fat, says Rio Health and Beauty Products.

Localization

One major advantage of a sauna belt is the ability to treat a specific body part. Visiting a traditional sauna may result in weight loss from the entire body, which might not be desirable. A sauna belt can provide heat to a part of the body you wish to treat, and still provide some benefits of sweating, reducing fat and easing muscle pain.

Instant Heat Regulation

Water poured over hot coals regulates a traditional sauna's temperature. This can be difficult to alter if the temperature is too high or too low and can take a long period of time. Saunabelts.net says the Velform belt comes with an adjustable heat regulator so you can set the temperature, then sit back and relax.

Portability

Sauna belts measure just over a yard in length and can be easily rolled or folded up. This makes them extremely portable; they can fit into any average-sized bag or piece of luggage. Because of this portability, a sauna belt can be used to apply heat as a muscle repairing tool directly after physical activity.

Affordability

As of November 2010, sauna belt prices range from $15 to a top end of around $60. The more expensive belts may have massaging features and finer temperature and timing controls. But even the most expensive sauna belts will be significantly cheaper than using a traditional sauna, which requires joining a gym or buying one's own. For the same price as a month's gym membership, you can purchase a sauna belt.
