How Many Calories Do You Burn at 140 Degrees in an Infrared Sauna?

A 140-degree F infrared sauna does not burn calories. It only increases your body's temperature. Sitting in a 140-degree sauna leaves you at risks for serious health problems.

Heat Stroke

According to the experts at the Mayo Clinic, if your body's temperature rises beyond 104 degrees F, you are suffering from heat stroke. Sitting in an extremely hot infrared sauna can raise your body temperature to levels that will cause headaches, dry skin, increased heart rate, seizures and cramps. These are all symptoms of heat stroke.

Weight Loss

Excess sweating in an infrared sauna will cause weight loss. Bu that loss will be due to lost water weight, which is quickly restored after you consume liquids.

Other Effects

Dehydration can also occur in a 140-degree infrared sauna. Mayo Clinic also states that muscle weakness, drowsiness, dizziness and headaches are all symptoms of dehydration. If any symptoms continue, contact a doctor immediately.
