Cybex Eagle gym equipment is designed to provide you with correct biomechanics on a wide variety of exercises. Each machine focuses on one specific movement, and a full set of machines can give you a complete workout without the use of a personal trainer or spotter. The range-of-motion adjustments on these machines help you target specific muscles. To receive the full benefits of this equipment, you must follow the guidelines for each machine.
Workout Form
The most important element of using Cybex Eagle gym equipment properly is keeping your body in the correct form throughout the exercise. Adjust the seat pad and then the back or chest pad to a level that's right for your body type and height. The proper seat position will vary by machine, so consult the diagrams on the machine. When lifting on a Cybex Eagle machine like the bench press or leg press, do not lock your joints or hyperextend them. You can adjust the range-limiting knob on the machine to fit your body's range of motion.
Weight Selection
The amount of weight you select to use on a Cybex Eagle machine is dependent on your overall fitness goals. If you want to increase your muscle size, turn the weight selection knob to a level that will cause you to reach muscle failure in six to eight repetitions each set. Muscle-toning and fat-burning workouts require less weight and more repetitions. The knob-adjustment system on the Cybex machines makes weight selection a quick process so you don't have to slow down your workout.
Safety
You should never attempt to use Cybex Eagle equipment that is not placed on a level surface or that has broken components. Cybex advises quickly inspecting the cable, belt or drive mechanism on the machine before use for loose or broken parts that could lead to injury. When you use a particular Cybex Eagle machine for the first time, perform the exercise first with a light amount of weight so you can become accustomed to the movement.
Maintenance
Spray down and wipe any area of the machine that comes in contact with your body using a solution of 10 percent liquid dish soap and 90 percent water. Dry the machine thoroughly after spraying it down. All bolts and grip handles should be inspected on a weekly basis for tightness and excessive wear. If a part is damaged or loose, it should be repaired before the machine is used again.
Considerations
Cybex advises placing complementary Cybex Eagle machines back to back in workout facilities. For example, the biceps curl and seated row machines may be placed back to back. This serves the dual purpose of allowing you to work your entire arm quickly and saving space on the workout floor.
