Foods With Acid in Them

Adopting a healthy diet isn't always simple, but it usually works best if you concentrate on one element of healthy living at a time. For instance, acidic foods are known to cause a variety of health conditions like cancer and heart disease, when eaten regularly.

Grains

While grains offer fiber to your diet, they are also highly acidic, which can contribute to health problems. A few grains you may wish to include in your diet only in moderation are oats, bran, kamut, wheat, rice, flour, barley and rye. A few foods items you may wish to approach with caution include crackers, breads and pasta.

Beans & Nuts

Legumes, nuts and beans may offer high fiber content, but they are also highly acidic, making them hazardous to your health in great quantity. A few foods you may wish to avoid in these categories include chick peas, pinto beans, black beans, soy beans, red beans, lentils, pecans, cashews, walnuts, peanuts and tahini.

Meats and Fish

Most, if not all, meat products are acidic. A few items you may wish to eat in moderation or avoid all together include organ meats, beef, pork, poultry, lamb, shellfish and fish.

Vegetables

While most vegetables are alkaline and should be included in your diet readily, a few are acidic. The most acidic offenders include corn, olives and lentils.

Fruits

Most fruits are alkaline, even citrus ones, which turn alkaline in the digestive tract. The few acidic fruits you should be cautious of include plums, cranberries and blueberries.

Additives & Other Foods

Other foods and additives are acidic, too, and should be avoided because they can change your body's blood pH level, leading to health issues later on. Examples include alcohol, coffee, soda and artificial sweeteners.
