How to Heal Scars From Pimples

After you conquer your pimples, you may have been left with reminders in the form of scars. The type of pimple will determine how serious the scar is. Pimples that leave a reddish scar are somewhat easy to address with natural remedies and over-the-counter creams. Scars left by cystic pimples are more serious and need professional attention. Cystic pimples stretch the walls of the pores to their capacity and can even break the walls. This breaking of the pore walls will cause a depression in the skin that needs special attention. Regardless of the severity of the scar, healing is achievable with different techniques.

Onion Extract

Step 1

Cleanse the scarred area with soap and water. Pat dry.

Step 2

Choose an over-the-counter scar reducing cream with onion extract as the key ingredient or use pure onion extract.

Step 3

Rub cream or extract into the scar three to five times a day to smooth, soften and diminish the appearance of the scar. Onion extract contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agents that slow down the production of collagen, which causes scaring.

Step 4

Repeat this regimen until desired results are achieved. It may take two to three months to see the difference.

Lemon Juice

Step 1

Cleanse the scarred area with soap and water. Pat dry.

Step 2

Squeeze a teaspoon of lemon juice onto a cotton ball.

Step 3

Dab the lemon juice onto the scar and keep it there for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Rinse with cool water and apply sunscreen on the face to protect the sensitive area from the sun.

Step 5

Perform this regimen two times a day for approximately three months or until desired results are achieved. Lemon juice helps remove old skin as well as give your skin elasticity. Lemon essentially contains good amounts of citric acid, which has properties to reduce acne scars.

Honey Mixture

Step 1

Cleanse the scarred area with soap and water. Pat dry.

Step 2

Mix together the honey, aloe vera and vitamin C.

Step 3

Apply the mixture onto the scarred area with a cotton ball.

Step 4

Leave the mixture to settle for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 5

Rinse your face with cold water.

Step 6

Perform this regimen two times a day for approximately three months or until desired results are achieved.

Honey contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that promote the rebuilding of skin while healing scars. Aloe vera contains anti-inflammatory properties that are useful in fading acne scars. You can either grow an Aloe vera plant in your home and apply fresh pure Aloe vera gel to your scar or you can purchase Aloe vera gel in a bottle. Vitamin C lifts dead skin while smoothing out roughness of the scar.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid Over the Counter Cream

Step 1

Choose an over-the-counter scar reducing cream that contains alpha hydroxy acid. Creams containing alpha hydroxy acids help to exfoliate the skin and can be used to lighten the scar over a period of time.

Step 2

Cleanse the scarred area with soap and water. Pat dry.

Step 3

Apply cream to the scarred area at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.

Step 4

Continue this regimen until desired results are achieved. Results may take two to three months.
