Skippy is a division of Unilever, and its peanut butters include creamy and super chunk versions of regular, reduced fat and roasted honey nut. If you are more worried about fat than calories, you might be interested in the reduced fat peanut butter. The nutrition information is nearly identical for creamy and super chunk varieties of Skippy peanut butter. The serving size is 2 tbsp., or 36 g.

Basic Nutritional Information

Skippy reduced fat peanut butter has 180 calories per serving along with 7 g protein from peanuts and soy protein. It has 15 g carbohydrates, including 2 g dietary fiber or 8 percent of the daily value. It has 4 g sugars from corn syrup solids and sugar. The peanut butter has 170 mg sodium, or 7 percent of the daily value for a healthy adult on a 2,000-calorie diet, and is cholesterol free.

Fat

You may end up eating too many calories if you have a high-fat diet because dietary fat is high in calories. Skippy reduced fat peanut butter has 12 g total fat, or 25 percent less fat than regular Skippy creamy with 16 g total fat. To lower your risk for heart disease, choose unsaturated fats instead of saturated fats or trans fats. This peanut butter has only 2 g saturated fat and no trans fats.

Vitamins

Niacin is a water-soluble vitamin that you need for converting carbohydrates, proteins and fats from food into usable energy for your body. Peanuts are naturally rich in niacin, and a serving of Skippy reduced fat peanut butter provides 25 percent of the daily value for niacin. It also has 6 percent of the daily value for vitamin B6 and 8 percent for folic acid. The peanut butter does not provide vitamin A or vitamin C.

Minerals

The 2005 Dietary Guidelines from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that Americans should increase consumption of magnesium from sources such as dairy products, fruits, vegetables and nuts. Peanuts are naturally high in magnesium, and a serving of Skippy reduced fat peanut butter has 15 percent of the daily value for magnesium. It also has 10 percent of the daily value for copper, 6 percent of the daily value for zinc and 4 percent for iron.

Uses

Skippy reduced fat peanut butter can help you achieve recommendations to eat about four servings of nuts, seeds and legumes per week, as stated in the 2005 Dietary Guidelines. You can eat the peanut butter at lunch or with fruit or crackers, or use it in a recipe to create a balanced meal. Skippy suggests peanut butter and jelly fruit burritos with fruit, dairy and whole-grain ingredients along with peanut butter.
