How to Use Anti-Smoking Drug Chantix

Chantix, also known as varenicline, is a popular drug used to help you quit smoking. If you previously tried to quit smoking, you are aware of its immense difficulty. The cravings for cigarettes creep up on you when you are reading the newspaper or drinking coffee. Chantix was developed to curb those cravings. There are specific steps to follow when using Chantix.

Step 1

Pick a day to quit smoking and mark the day on your calendar. Go to your doctor a week before your quit day to get a prescription for Chantix.

Step 2

Fill the prescription and make sure you receive a total of three boxes containing Chantix. One is labeled "Starting Month PAK" and the remaining two are labeled "Continuing Month PAKs." Take Chantix a total of 12 weeks, or as your doctor prescribed.

Step 3

Open the "Starting Month PAK" box on day one of taking Chantix. Take one white pill on days one to three.

Step 4

Take two white pills (one pill in the morning and one pill in the evening) on days four to seven.

Step 5

Open the "Continuing Month PAK" and take two blue pills (one pill in the morning and one pill in the evening) on days eight to 84.
