Muscle milk is a meal replacement shake that can be used for fat loss or for a muscle growth program. It is known for being the best-tasting shake, and with flavors such as cookies and crème, mint chocolate and vanilla crème, it's no wonder why.
Cytosport Claims
Cytosport, the maker of muscle milk, claims the ingredients stimulate muscle synthesis, trigger new growth, boost nitrogen balance, increase oxygen delivery and promote leanness.
Calorie Content
One shake consists of 300 calories, a modest amount that can be used as a meal replacement or to add additional calories to help provide the nutrients necessary for growth.
Fat Content
Muscle milk does have a high fat content. There are 12 g per shake with 6 g coming from saturated fats, nearly 1/3 of the daily recommended allowance.
"Leanlipids"
Cytosport claims these fats are "leanlipids," which are used to help a person feel full, and are more likely to be used as energy during a workout instead of being stored.
Added Vitamins
Muscle milk also contains 20 vitamins and minerals at a minimum of 35 percent of the RDA for a 2,000-calorie diet.
