Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques, referred to as NAET, use a mixture of chiropractic, allopathic, nutritional, kinesological and acupuncture/acupressure techniques in an effort to treat allergies, according to the website NAET. This system was created in 1983 by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad who practices chiropractic care, acupuncture and kinesiology. Nambudripad claims that this system eliminates allergies completely, although more research is needed to back up this claim. While this technique treats multifarious allergies, you start with some basic allergens, including eggs, milk, sugar, salt and grains. After treatment for each allergen, you are instructed to avoid the allergen for at least 25 hours while your body adjusts its reaction to the allergen.

Eggs

The "egg mix" is one of the basic NAET treatments that includes eggs, chicken and feather allergens, according to Darcy Frieson from St. Albert Acupuncture and Wellness. After treatment of this allergen, your NAET specialist advises you to stay away from eggs and chicken. This includes any food made with eggs, which makes this task a little difficult. You need to avoid baked goods, bread, mayonnaise, food cooked in egg batter or sauces including egg. You should avoid any food made with chicken broth. Your specialist will also suggest avoiding anything containing feathers, such as pillows and bedspreads. The easiest way to get through this avoidance period is to make your own food at home so you know what goes into it.

Milk

Milk is another difficult food to avoid after your "Milk/Calcium Mix" treatment, as milk is an ingredient in many foods. For this treatment, Frieson suggests staying away from all dairy products made from cow and goat's milk, including milk, cheese and yogurt. You will need to look for milk products added to foods. This treatment also includes calcium, so you will need to avoid leafy green vegetables, fruits such as prunes, papaya and figs; nuts, seeds and beans like soybeans, dried beans, peanuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds; fish and any other food or supplement containing calcium, notes Friesen.

Sugar

Sugar is another ingredient added to and found naturally in many foods. After you have the "sugar mix" treatment, steer clear of all types of sugar such as sucrose, brown sugar, fruit, honey, maple syrup and molasses, according to Friesen. Read food labels to see if sugar has been added. On labels, sugar generally ends in "ose" such as sucrose, lactose, maltose, glucose or dextrose.

Salt

Salt is another ingredient found in excess in most American diets. This allergy treatment is the "salt mix/chlorides" so it includes chlorides as well. After this treatment, pass on the sea and table salts, sodium and chloride, advises Friesen. Avoid fruit and vegetables such as romaine lettuce, celery, kelp, avocado and watermelon. Read food labels to avoid salt additives found in most processed, prepared foods.

Grains

Grains are another of the basic allergens you have treated first in NAET sessions. After the "grain mix" treatment, stay away from all grains, including wheat, rye, oats, barley and rice, suggests Friesen. Read food labels as grains are found in many foods such as cereal, crackers and pretzels.
