There are many different ways you can lose weight quickly. While diet pills, fad diets and fasting might help you lose weight fast, these methods can cause you to lose muscle and even injure your heart and other organs. Choosing a natural weight loss routine is a safer alternative to losing weight quickly, and it can be very rewarding and quite simple.
Step 1
Develop a positive attitude towards your weight loss, as this will keep you motivated and enthusiastic throughout the weight loss process.
Step 2
Drink lots of water throughout the day. You should consume at least eight glasses of water per day.
Step 3
Eat six small meals every day. The best times to eat these meals (assuming a typical, nine-to-five workday) are 7:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Lunch should be your largest meal. The other meals can consist solely of one food containing protein and one containing carbohydrates. Your source of protein should be the size of half of your palm and your carbohydrate source the size of your fist.
Step 4
Eat organic vegetables and fruits for breakfast, such as apples, non-fat yogurt, carrots, tomatoes and peppers.
Step 5
Eat your food slowly. Chew each mouthful for about 30 seconds. Pause from eating for five minutes halfway through your meal.
Step 6
Go for a one-hour walk at least five days per week. Walk at a brisk speed and carry two-pound dumbbells with you if possible.
Step 7
Find gyms in your area and select one that looks like a good place for you to work out. If you are not sure if a particular gym is the best one for you, you can get a free trial membership to develop a better sense of the place.
Step 8
Start an intense cardiovascular workout at least twice a week for 45 minutes per session. Do a weight training program three times per week. If you have not been exercising regularly, build the intensity gradually to prevent injury.
Step 9
Keep yourself busy by meeting friends or new people. Join clubs or go to free public events. Do anything you need to keep yourself from sitting on your couch all the time (as this causes overeating).
Tips and Warnings
- Have your last large meal at least three hours before you sleep. If you get hungry after that, you can have a very small snack, such as fruit.
