"You are the only person who can make yourself healthy," says Joshua Rosenthal from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. "The first step is to slow down, listen to your body and understand yourself from the inside out." There comes a turning point in your life when enough is enough and a cleansing is needed. Holistic means whole, and a holistic cleansing diet is meant to put every section in your life in balance.

First and Foremost

It isn't just about food; your holistic cleansing diet will delve into your daily exercise, emotional and spiritual self. It will focus on building your relationships --- friendships or intimate --- your career, your physical activity and your every day practices. These components are responsible for your happiness and goals. If one area is lacking, no matter what foods you digest, you will never feel completely whole.

Deconstructing Cravings

Cravings are triggers to your emotional needs that aren't being met. A holistic cleansing diet will discover those needs and cleanse out those cravings that are not healthy for you. It will direct you on a path to a more aware sense of self and align you to love and listen to your body. You will touch on carbohydrate or sugar addictions and foods that contract or expand, within your system that penetrate or cover up a feeling. During the process you might be asked to keep a journal to understand what triggers you cravings and write them down.

Escaping the Media

Within a holistic paradigm, your health counselor, naturopath or dietician will want to help you break away from an old media enforced design and into a new one. It is the false notions and past beliefs about the world that drains your life energy --- old rules about weight, food, health and nutrition. Your holistic cleansing diet will try to bring you out of those pressures and focus on a new wish list.

The Foods

Perhaps keeping a food diary and certainly breaking you into your new diet plan with ease, a holistic cleansing diet is based on a whole food system --- educating you on new foods and ways to cook them. Your diet will usually consist of drinking more water and ways to make it tastier; practicing cooking and increasing whole grains, sweet and leafy green vegetables. You may experiment with new sources of protein and lessen your meat, dairy, sugar, coffee, alcohol, tobacco and chemical and artificial junk food intake. Also, you will gain the knowledge of cooking simple, cooking with the seasons, working with freshly made foods and learning how to eat.

Why Be Healthy?

With an overtly large percentage of society in poor health --- suffering from conditions such as obesity, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and other psychological and physiological ailments --- your wellness is a priority. Unpredictable factors lie ahead and living a holistic, healthy and joyous lifestyle can benefit your future.

About Your Holistic Cleansing Diet Professional

When you are on the hunt for a professional to assist you in your holistic cleansing diet, make sure they are certified or graduated from a college or professional institute. Inquire about their qualifications, history and request if you can speak with any of their past clients. Asking questions and doing your investigating can get you your money's worth. If you decide not to work with an expert and follow an on-line or book diet, consult with your primary care physician before hand --- this is your health, so be wise.
