The hybrid sport of snow skating blends the carving maneuvers of snowboarding with the tricks of skateboarding. Snow skaters commonly utilize obstacles found in snowboarding terrain parks. Unlike the conventional snowboard, the snow skateboard does not have boot bindings. The snow skateboard features a thick rubber material that allows your shoes to grip the top of the board.
50-50
A slide in snow skating refers to a basic maneuvers that involves gliding across the top of an obstacle with the bottom of your snow skateboard. Identify the vertical groove pattern on the underside of your snow skateboard. These grooves allow you to lock onto circular rails. Construct an inclined snow ramp in front of the rail prior to your 50-50 attempt. Approach the rail at a comfortable speed. Apply pressure to the back end of your snow skateboard, defined as the tail, as you reach the peak of the ramp. Lift your back foot to allow the tail to lift off the snow. According to Icon Snowskates, the 50-50 takes place as you lock in the center groove of you snow skateboard onto the top of a circular rail. Bending your knees will help to stabilize your stance as you perform the 50-50 slide.
5-0 and Nose Press
The 5-0 and nose press refer to a more advanced sliding trick. Approach the take-off ramp with a comfortable amount of speed. Jump over the top of the rail by putting pressure onto the tail of your snow skateboard. As you descend onto the top of the rail, keep your weight on the back of the board. Slide across the top of the rail with the center groove of the tail. The nose refers to the concave shaped section at the front of your snow skateboard. Perform the nose press on a ledge that features a flat top. Put pressure on the front of your snow skateboard as you slide across the top of the ledge. According to Icon Snowskates, leaning forward will allow you to keep the tail of the board from touching the ledge.
Kickflip
Perform the kickflip on flat ground or off of an inclined ramp. Place your back foot onto the tail of your snow skateboard as you set up for the kickflip. Rest your lead foot towards the middle of the snow skateboard with a few inches of your heel hanging off. Lift the nose of the board off the ground by pushing down on the tail. Kick down while sliding your front foot towards the nose of the board. Lift your legs as the snow skateboard flips under you. Lower your feet onto the rubber grip of the board as it completes the kickflip.
