HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone that is produced in large quantities during pregnancy. The hormone is popular and often touted as a weight loss aid, and diets are dedicated to using prescription HCG injections as part of the plan. In order to lose weight on HCG injections, there are a few steps you must take as part of an HCG diet plan.
Step 1
Call or visit your doctor to obtain HCG via a prescription. There are some other forms of HCG available, according to "The Seattle Times," but the injection form is only available via prescription. HCG is not an approved weight loss aid by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Step 2
Inject the proper dose of HCG one time per day for 40 days. It is not recommended to use HCG for longer than 40 days. In fact, many diet plans have maintenance phases for the period after you have used HCG. According to "The Seattle Times," it is recommended that you avoid heavy exercise when using HCG.
Step 3
Eat only 500 calories per day as part of your diet while you are using the HCG injections. Recommended breakfasts include unlimited coffee or tea with stevia as the sweetener and up to 1 tbsp. of milk. For lunch and dinner, you may eat 100g of lean meat; 2 cups or more of vegetables; one breadstick; and an apple, orange, strawberries or grapefruit.
