Body wraps are a soothing way that may help you to lose weight, exfoliate, tone the skin and pamper yourself at home. You can make body wraps with a variety of products, scents and oils to leave your skin feeling fresh while at the same time giving you a slimmer appearance. You only need a few simple and relatively inexpensive ingredients to make a body wrap at home, and you can even experiment with oils and herbs to create the perfect wrap that invigorates all your senses.

Step 1

Place an old sheet, towel or blanket on your bed, the floor to lie on.

Step 2

Mix approximately 1 cup of green clay with 1/4 cup of sea salt. Blend in 2 tbsp. of olive oil and slowly add 2 cups of water. You may add less water if you want a thicker paste, so add slowly as you mix until the "mud" reaches the consistency you want. Add a couple of drops of any essential oil of your choice, such as lavender, lemongrass or sage. You may also sprinkle in 1 tbsp. of herbs of your choice, such as basil, chamomile or rosemary.

Step 3

Spread the clay mixture all over your body. Massage the clay on the skin, starting with your legs and working your way up your body. When rubbing the mixture on your stomach, massage in a clockwise direction that follows digestive flow.

Step 4

Wrap plastic sheets or sheet or towel strips over the clay mix, firmly---but not so tightly that you hamper circulation. Wrap in a circular motion, like your applying bandages to the arms, legs and torso. Tuck in the ends or use tape to secure.

Step 5

Lie down and get comfortable. You can cover yourself with a warm blanket, but you don't have to. Relax and listen to soft music or just enjoy the peace and quiet. Remain still for about 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse off in a warm shower, then pat the skin dry.
