When you go to a nutritional supplement store or pharmacy, you may notice the shelves lined with pills that promise to help you drop weight fast. The weight-loss market is very successful since many people desire an easy fix to help them lose the pounds. However, many of these supplements either have not been proven to work or can cause dangerous side effects.
Step 1
Consume low-calorie foods that are highly nutritious. Fad diets may help you lose weight fast, but the results do not typically last. Instead reduce your daily caloric intake by eating mostly fruits and vegetables. The rest of your meals should be made up of lean proteins, like chicken, turkey and beans, whole-grain bread and nonfat dairy items. If you want to lose weight fast, aim to follow a 1,200- to 1,500-a-day calorie diet.
Step 2
Measure out your portions. Portion control is a part of following a low-calorie and effective diet. Weigh your meats and use measuring cups to ensure you have the correct portion sizes.
