When you restrict your carb consumption to just 50 to 150 g per day, many of your favorite foods are off-limits. A low-carb diet discourages the consumption of foods like grains, many fruits, starchy vegetables, breads, crackers, cereals and sweets. Even though meats and leafy green vegetables make up the bulk of your low-carb eating plan, you can still enjoy delicious tasting meals and snacks. The best-tasting options on a low-carb diet ultimately depend on your personal preferences.

Crunchy

When you crave something crunchy, nuts are a tasty, low-carb option. Choose 30 almonds, 10 Brazil nuts, nine cashews, 12 macadamias, 10 pecans, 50 pistachios or 14 walnuts to take in between 4 and 5 g of carbs. Another crunchy, satisfying snack is hulled sunflower seeds, with just 5 g of carbs in 6 tbsp. Pork rinds are another snack favored by low-carb dieters that come in dozens of flavors such as barbecue, salt and vinegar, hot and spicy, cheddar cheese and sour cream and onion.

Sweet

Candy, cakes, cookies, sodas and even fruits tend to be high in carbohydrates. Waxy low-carb snack bars with the texture of cardboard are not the best-tasting options. You can enjoy 1/2 cup of sugar-free gelatin for just .83 g of carbohydrates. Make it taste the best by adding homemade whipped cream sweetened with artificial sweetener such as aspartame and flavored with a dash of vanilla extract. Heavy whipping cream contains less than 1 g of carbs per fluid ounce. Part-skim ricotta cheese contains about 6 g of carbs per 1/2-cup serving and makes a creamy dessert when sweetened with artificial sweetener and almond extract. Add 1/4 cup of strawberries for another 3 g of carbohydrates.

Salty

Along with shrimp, lobster, steak and salmon, bacon is one of the best-tasting low-carb foods. Have it with eggs in the morning, crumbled over a green salad at lunch or use it to wrap grilled scallops at dinner. Be aware that bacon contains about 3.3 g of saturated fat per three-strip serving. Most cheeses are also low in carbohydrates with 1 g or fewer per ounce. Depending on your personal preferences, some of the best tasting are feta, gouda, blue and goat. Zap slices of pepperoni in the microwave to make delicious, crisp chips. Smoked salmon is another flavorful food that can be used to make any meal taste the best. Have it with eggs in the morning or roll filets with cream cheese and capers to slice into pinwheel snacks.
