The Sports Club/LA

Located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, the Sports Club/LA has a range of amenities. With basketball and racquetball courts, a rock-climbing wall, and a pool, you can get in your workout while engaging in an enjoyable activity. The 150,000 square-foot facility is lined with workout machines and high-tech equipment. Included is the Rev Studio, with 50 cycles. The club offers daily training programs, from dancing to yoga to boxing, as well as a spa to relax in afterwards. Personal trainers certified by such organizations as the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association will evaluate your lifestyle and health goals to tailor a customized fitness workout. As of November 2010, club hours are Monday to Thursday 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers

The Sports Center is located on Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers, 23rd Street and the West Side Highway. It offers an indoor swimming pool and track, as well as numerous fitness programs with a professional instructor. Members can try variations of an aquatics class, boot camp, boxing lessons, cycling, pilates, and yoga classes. Other enjoyable recreational activities include an indoor rock-climbing wall, a sand volleyball court, and a basketball court. To relax, members can enjoy the sundecks overlooking the Hudson River. Club hours as of November 2010 are Monday to Thursday 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Friday 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m, as of November 2010.

Manhattan Athletic Club

Manhattan Athletic Cub is located in midtown, featuring 20-foot ceilings and adorned with palm trees throughout to achieve a peaceful and serene atmosphere. With massage stations, basketball courts, and a boxing room on hand, you can do your workout in comfort. The club also boasts 70 top-of-the-line cardiovascular machines such as Woodway Treadmills, Schwinn Spin Bikes, Precor Elliptical Trainers, and Versa Climbers, to name a few. The club's hours are Monday to Friday 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

New York Health and Racquet Club

This chain of sports clubs can be found in several locations throughout Manhattan. The club has personalized training sessions and 600 weekly class programs for activities such as dancing, yoga, and zumba. Customized training regimens are created for members by professional trainers, after a consultation and a fitness test. Members can use the basketball and racquetball courts for games, the many indoor pools for swimming, and the whirlpools, saunas, and steam rooms for relaxing. This club has a wide variety of cardio equipment on the second floor balcony and strengthening machines and free weights on the first floor. As of November 2010, club hours are Monday to Friday 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Complete Body and Spa

Complete Body and Spa offers its members workouts, sports, and relaxation. With locations around the city, you're likely to be within commutable distance of one. The club has basketball courts, rock-climbing walls, saunas, racquetball, and swimming, as well as physical therapy services and personalized training. Complete Body and Spa additionally offers a juice bar with sandwiches, tanning rooms, and laundry service. Equipment includes Pro-Style weights, free weights, and cardio and strengthening machines. Club hours as of November 2010 are Monday to Friday 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
