Most have heard the common saying that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Eyes come in all different colors from blue and green to brown and hazel. The pigmented part of the eye called the iris is responsible for your eye color. Nowadays, people want to change their eye color either temporarily for a smashing party or permanently for convenience. There are options available to change your eye color.
Contact Lenses
Many types of contact lenses (plastic discs placed in your eyes to correct vision) are available for you to change your eye color. If your eyes are dark, opaque contact lenses can change your eye color from brown to blue. If your eyes are light, contact lenses with translucent tints can enhance and darken your eye color. Pearlescent contact lenses work to literally add a sparkle to your eye. You should talk to your optometrist if you are interested in investing in colored contact lenses.
Surgery
If you want your eye color to change permanently, you can have surgery to accomplish this feat. People with coloboma (defect in the iris), ocular albinism (lack of color in the iris) and heterochromia (different eye colors) usually get this type of surgery, but it is also available to people who want to change their eye color for cosmetic reasons. Under topical anesthesia (numbing solution is placed in the eye), a diaphragm implant is placed over the colored parts of the eyes. If you are interested in this technique, you should discuss it with your opthalmologist.
Computer Enhancement
If you want to change your eye color on your digital pictures, many computer software programs are available for this task. You can change the color of your eyes via manipulation of the pixels (colored dots or squares on an image). You can brighten, change, enhance and mix eye colors with this technological option.
