NordicTracks are best known for their skier machines which simulate cross-country skiing from the comfort of your own snow-free living room or home gym. How many calories you burn using a NordicTrack skier or other machine depends on your height, weight, gender and duration of exercise, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Estimates

You can burn up to 571 calories in one hour using a NordicTrack machine, notes CalorieLab. If only cruising along with light effort though, your calories burned will be closer to 415 for an hour. A moderate intensity level will use up 496 calories in an hour. These estimates are based on a 150 lb. person using a NordicSport Ski 450 by NordicTrack. Hourly estimates for other machines were up to 741 calories on a treadmill, 619 on a rowing machine and 626 calories on a stair stepper. These estimates were also based on a 150 lb. person using varying brands of machines.

NordicTrack Calories Burned Feature

Most NordicTrack machines from treadmills to ellipticals have a calories burned feature that will show on the display. Entering your current weight and age, along with any other information your machine will take, will vastly increase the accuracy of these measurements. If your NordicTrack has a heart rate monitor, use it. This will allow for the most accurate measurements of calories burned because your heart rate will show your workout intensity. A chest strap for heart rate monitoring is better than holding onto metal pulse sensors because it gives your machine constant feedback.

Online Calculator

Another way to determine how many calories you burn per workout session -- or the potential calories burned if you are comparing machines -- is to use an online calorie or activity calculator. Use an online calculator that allows you to select the activity so you can match it up as close as possible to the NordicTrack machine you used and input intensity.
