Back to Basics shampoos contain botanical extracts that nurture hair without the use of animal bi-products, petroleum or mineral oils. In her book "Rosemary Gladstar's Family Herbal: A Guide to Living Life with Energy, Health, and Vitality," master herbalist Rosemary Gladstar encourages consumers to stick to haircare products that boast familiar ingredients because many modern haircare lines include natural ingredients among a vast sea of chemical-laden fillers and additives.

Apple Ginseng Shampoo

Back to Basics apple ginseng shampoo is designed to boost hair volume without adding weight. This volatilizing shampoo blends vitamin B5, A and C with apple and ginseng to allow deep penetration into the hair shaft. This color-safe shampoo also boasts a subtle appealing smell to go along with natural conditioning elements effective at promoting natural shine.

Coconut Mango Shampoo

Back to Basics coconut mango shampoo blends emollient coconut oil with mango to soften coarse or thick hair. Vitamins A, B and C and jojoba penetrate the hair cortex to strengthen and protect from the effects of heat styling and harsh weather conditions that cause dehydration of the hair.

Raspberry Almond Shampoo

The raspberry almond shampoo developed by Back to Basics contains sweet almond oil emollients, raspberry fruit extract and natural vitamin complex A, B and C to provide a moisturizing base designed to strengthen damaged hair. Wheat protein and castor oil increase strengthening potential of this formula and natural citrus acids increase shine and capacity for light reflection.

Possible Irritants

Some back to basics shampoos also include sodium laureth Sulfate, perfumes, cetearyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, methylparaben and propylparaben. Individuals who are sensitive to these ingredients or others contained in the Back to Basics line should consider alternative shampoo line.
