Calories in Potatoes

Potatoes contain no fat or cholesterol. A medium baked potato has 130 calories, according to the USDA Nutrient Database. The calories and fat in potatoes can add up, however, depending on how they are prepared and seasoned.

Calories in Home Fries

Home fries are potatoes fried in oil and salt and served as a popular breakfast side dish. A 1-cup serving of home fries has 359 calories, 18.7 g of fat and no cholesterol. A serving of home fries also contains 45 g of carbohydrates.

Nutrition

Home fries may not be a good choice if you're watching your sodium intake. A serving has 599 mg of sodium, according to Fat Secret, or over a third of the total daily sodium intake recommended by the American Heart Association. A serving of home fries also contain 842 mg of potassium, 4.3 g of fiber and 41 percent of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C.
