How to Compare Diets on eDiets

A study published in a 2007 International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity found that homes that had food and meals delivered to them let the inhabitants to healthier choices and weight loss. A delivery service such as eDiets is helpful if you want to lose weight but don't know how to prepare diet food on your own. eDiets offers a number of diet plans for individuals, but you need to compare the diets to choose the one that is right for you and your lifestyle.

Step 1

Go to the eDiets website, where you can view all of the diet choices to compare them.

Step 2

Choose the "See All Diet Plans" link found at the bottom of the page to view a comprehensive list of the different diet plans and read more about each one. Each diet plan has a homepage that discusses the available foods, potential risks and why it might be a good diet plan for you.

Step 3

Read the introduction for each diet plan, which tells you why the diet may be a good match for you, and lists the type of person who will find the most weight loss success with the particular diet. Read also the section about warnings about why the diet may not be a good choice for you.

Step 4

Consider the section named "Best For" on each diet plan. It gives a quick summary of who the diet would be best for, such as those with a heart condition, those allergic to gluten or those who have diabetes.

Step 5

Read the "Basic Philosophy" for each plan. This philosophy details the method behind the weight loss. It may be lowering caloric intake, or it may be restricting carbohydrates. This will give you greater insight into how the diet plan works and why it might be a good choice for you.

Step 6

Check out the "Foods That Aren't Allowed" section for each diet. Here you can read about the foods that are restricted. Compare the diet restrictions for each diet plan. You may find that some of your favorite foods aren't allowed, and it might not be the diet plan for you. Choose one that allows you to eat your favorite foods.

Step 7

Consider the potential risks for each diet plan. You'll notice that most risk involve allergies, low sugar or a general intolerance to some of the diet's staple foods. You may want to talk to your doctor if you are concerned with some of the risks for the diet that you are considering.

Step 8

Click on each diet to view some of the food choices, caloric intakes and foods that you'll need to add. Think about your lifestyle, and the health concerns that you have. Choose a diet plan based on the foods that you like and the likelihood that you'll stick to the plan. For example, if your doctor has warned you about high cholesterol, choose the Heart Smart Plan to lose weight while keeping cholesterol down.
