One cup of fresh, sliced white mushrooms, a reasonable serving size, has 15 calories and 0.24 g fat, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. One cup of whole mushrooms has 21 calories.
Minerals
One cup of uncooked sliced white mushrooms provides 0.223 mg of copper and 3.3 micrograms of selenium. This is equivalent to almost 25 percent and 6 percent, respectively, of an adult's daily requirement for these minerals. A serving of mushrooms also have a bit more than1 g protein, which is less than 2.5 percent of the daily requirement for a 130-lb. woman.
Variants
While white mushrooms are the most commonly available, more exotic types are often in the fresh vegetable section as well. A half cup of chanterelles, enokis or brown criminis has fewer than 25 calories. Likewise, a half cup of sliced portabella mushroom has only 40 calories.
