Dried peas are obtained when fresh, mature pea pods are dried. The legumes are a good source of dietary fiber and contain high amounts of protein.

Calories and Fat

Fit Day, a calorie counting website, states that 1 cup of dried green peas contains 269 calories, 45 of which come from fat.

Carbohydrates and Fiber

A cup of dried peas contains 41 g of carbohydrates and 16 g of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber, which is insoluble fiber, helps lower blood cholesterol levels and controls blood sugar levels.

Protein

According to the Fat Secret website, 1 cup of dried green peas contains 16 g of protein. The Soy Info website warns that although legumes like green peas are high in protein, they are slightly deficient in two amino acids, so don't supply a balance of essential amino acids on when eaten on their own.
