Verseo Detox Foot Patch is a transdermal patch said to use natural ingredients to draw toxins out of the body. According to the Verseo website, the product utilizes principles similar to foot reflexology to provide various systemic benefits, such as arthritis relief, increased energy, improved circulation, relief from headaches, and enhanced mental focus. The patches are worn overnight, usually on the feet, and are said to draw impurities out of the body. Detox foot pads are not proven as a medical cure for any illness.

Basis in Reflexology

The Verseo website states that although the detox foot patches can be placed anywhere on your body, the soles of the feet are preferable. This is because the feet are believed to have 60 meridian points, which correspond with different organs and systems of the body. Moreover, the Verseo website maintains that, according to Chinese medicine, the feet serve as receptacles for heavy metals and toxins that are carried away from the internal organs. The patches then serve to absorb the toxic "drainage" that gathers in the feet.

Ingredients

The two active ingredients in the Verseo Detox Foot Patch, according to the website, are tourmaline and a wood vinegar essence. Tourmaline, a mineral native to Brazil, emits far infrared rays, which in turn produce negative ions. The Verseo website says that negative ions have a calming effect, and target the various meridian points on the feet. The negative ions are also thought to improve circulation. Wood vinegar essence is a tincture of saps from oak, beech and sakura trees, and is purported to address irritation and infections.

Time Frame

According to the Verseo website, detoxing of the feet can take up to 30 days, although it may take longer if you have chronic illnesses. The company says that you can assess the progress of the patches based on the discoloration left on them after use. While at first, the residue left on the patches will generally be dark, it will continue to lighten gradually as the toxins are extracted, the Verseo website claims.

Warning

The Mayo Clinic cautions that detox foot pads in general have not been proven effective in relieving any of the conditions listed, and notes that no scientific studies have verified these claims. In addition, there is currently no data verifying the safety of the foot pads. The Mayo Clinic has encouraged consumers to use caution when considering this type of product, and to talk to your doctor about any health problems or environmental factors that concern you.

Interaction with Medications

Although the Verseo Detox Foot Patch draws toxins and impurities from your body, it won't extract any medications or supplements you are taking, according to the Verseo website. Because it pulls the toxins from the lympathic system, it will remove toxins only, and not any valuable nutrients or medications you may need. Talk to your doctor about whether you can benefit from foot detox products.
