L'il Critters Calcium Gummy Bears is a vitamin supplement designed especially for children to support bone growth. It is gluten free and has a vegetarian formula. The serving size is two gummy bears per day and each bottle contains 30 servings. L'il Critters Calcium Gummy Bears do not contain any wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts or soy.

Calcium And Phosphorous

L'il Critters Calcium Gummy Bears contains 200 mg of calcium, which is equivalent to the amount of calcium in a 5-oz. glass of milk. The calcium comes in the form of tricalcium phosphate. Tricalcium phosphate is a naturally occurring compound made up of calcium and phosphate, and is considered generally safe. In addition to being used as a nutritional supplement, it is found in toothpaste, antacids, and baking products. The tricalcium phosphate in L'il Calcium Gummy Bears also delivers 100 mg of phosphorous per serving. Phosphorus is a necessary mineral important for bone growth.

Vitamin D

L'il Critters Calcium Gummy Bears contains 200 IU of vitamin D as ergocalciferol, also known as vitamin D2. According to the Vitamin D Council, ergocalciferol is produced by irradiating fungus. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and aids in the absorption of calcium and phosphorous, nutrients essential for bone growth.

Salt

Ten mg of sodium is in each serving of L'il Critters Calcium Gummy Bears. Sodium is a common mineral. It is mostly known for being a component of table salt.

Sweetening And Gelling Agents

L'il Critters Calcium Gummy Bears contain sugars in the form of glucose syrup and sucrose. Glucose syrup is a liquid solution of sugars obtained from starch. Sucrose is commonly known as table sugar. Pectin is another ingredient listed. According to Food Additives, pectin is extracted from certain fruits such as apples, or from citrus peels. It is used as a gelling agent.

Natural Flavors And Colors

The vitamins come in natural black cherry, orange and strawberry flavors. Colors are provided naturally through carrot and blueberry juices, black carrot juice extract and annatto extract. Annatto is a tropical evergreen typically used to provide natural orange and yellow food coloring. According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, annatto can cause hives and produces more allergic reactions than many synthetic food dyes.
