A shopping list low in carbohydrates will likely be high in protein. A low-carbohydrate diet features lean meats, eggs, poultry and fish -- items that are high protein sources. While there may be some health advantages to limiting carbohydrate intake, be aware that a diet high in protein can be detrimental if you have kidney or liver trouble. According to the Mayo Clinic, people with liver and kidney problems have difficulty eliminating protein waste.
