Bacon, egg and cheese is a classic breakfast combination whether served separately arranged on a plate, or all together between an English muffin. This trio is delicious, but it can pack a caloric punch.

Bacon

One slice of bacon, pan fried, contains 42 calories. Alternatively, a slice of turkey bacon has only 30 calories. Canadian bacon is the healthiest option at only 14.5 calories for an equivalent sized piece.

Egg

An egg is a very simple food, but depending on its preparation it can have different amounts of calories. A fried egg has has the highest caloric value at 90 calories for one egg. The addition of oil or butter to fry the egg add calories. A hard-boiled egg has the fewest calories at only 78.

Cheese

For its weight, cheese has a high caloric value due to its fat content. One slice of cheddar cheese, or 1 oz., has 114 calories. One slice of mozzarella has 85 calories and one slice of Swiss cheese has 108 calories.

Considerations

Consider small additions that significantly affect the caloric value of your bacon, egg and cheese. Butter, oil, breads and sauces can increase the calories in your favorite bacon, egg and cheese combination.
