Subway's 33,000 restaurants offer some subs that appeal to the fast-food diner who is mindful of calories. Subway's low-fat items probably won't bust your calorie budget.
Lower-Fat Sandwiches
Subway offers eight 6-inch subs that have 6 or fewer g of fat. These subs range in calories from 162 for the Veggie Delight to 274 for the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sub. Six of the subs have fewer than 232 calories, including the Black Forest Ham without cheese, Oven Roasted Chicken, Roast Beef, Turkey Breast, Veggie Delite and Turkey Breast & Ham.
Foot-Long Sandwiches
For the heartier appetite, Subway offers foot-long versions of the same low-fat subs. At twice the length, these subs have twice the calories, ranging from 339 calories for the Footlong Veggie Delite to 566 calories for the Footlong Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sub.
Toasted Subs
From the menu of toasted subs, Subway has 10 6-inch subs that have more calories and fat than their low-fat offerings. Three subs -- the BLT, Steak and Cheese and Subway Melt -- have fewer than 400 calories each. The Buffalo Chicken and Italian BMT have 450 or fewer calories each, and the remaining subs vary from 520 to 570 calories.
Dressings
If you are watching your calories, then choose your condiments carefully. The red wine vinegar dressing and mustard have fewer than 5 calories, and the light or fat free sauces and dressing have fewer than 40 calories per serving. The mayonnaise packets pack 110 calories per serving, and the green vinaigrette and honey mustard dressing deliver 200 calories.
