Ultimate Colon Cleanse Vs. Colonix

Designed to rid the colon of harmful toxins and accumulated wastes, colon-cleansing products are often added to a regular diet for a specified period of time. Among the many colon-cleansing products available, the Ultimate Colon Cleanse and Colonix programs are quite similar in function, form, ingredients and cost.

Ultimate Colon Cleanse

The Ultimate Colon Cleanse website claims that "cleansing your colon acts like a 'reset switch,' restoring balance and proper function to your digestive system." The Ultimate Colon Cleanse program uses a four-step system for cleansing and detoxification. The powdered-fiber supplement is mixed with juice or water before consumption. "Anti-Parasite Support" capsules aim to eliminate harmful intestinal parasites from the body. "Nighttime Cleansing Tea" is a caffeine-free herbal drink consumed at night; its goal is to push wastes through the system for excretion in the morning. "Ultimate Probiotics" capsules aim to deposit healthy microorganisms into the intestines.

Colonix

Produced by DrNatura, Colonix claims to be "the market leader in the field of colon cleansing and body detoxification." The three-step program begins with a powdered-fiber supplement that is mixed with water or blended into a shake before consumption. The program's "Paranil" capsules contain a blend of detoxifying herbs, which are supposed help purify the liver and colon. "KiereTea" is the final step in the program; this caffeine-free herbal tea aims to encourage morning digestion and maintain regular bowel movements throughout the day.

Dietary Changes

Neither program requires you to significantly alter your diet while using the colon-cleansing system. However, a diet rich in whole grains, fruits and vegetables will likely contribute to a successful cleanse. On the other hand, a diet high in fat, sodium and sugar may contribute to an unhealthy colon and liver. Whether you are trying the Ultimate Colon Cleanse or the Colonix program, it is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Both programs recommend drinking at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water each day to avoid dehydration.

Time Frame

Both programs sell their products in 30-day supplies. The creators of both the Ultimate Colon Cleanse and Colonix programs recommend using the cleansing system for two to three consecutive months. Neither program is designed for continuous long-term use.

Cost

Both programs offer substantial cost savings if you purchase more than one package at a time. In November 2010, the Ultimate Colon Cleanse website offered a 30-day supply for about $89. The 60-day supply sold for about $133, and the 90-day supply for about $177. The DrNatura website offered a 30-day supply of Colonix for about $88, a 60-day supply for about $123 and a 90-day supply for about $177.
