Fiber is an important part of any healthy, balanced diet, as it offers many different health benefits. Fiber can lower cholesterol levels, prevent and alleviate constipation and help you feel full and eat less. Eating high-fiber foods is a great way to get the fiber that you need, but fiber supplements--like Benefiber--can also help to ensure that you consume enough fiber each day.

About Benefiber

Benefiber is a fiber supplement composed of soluble fiber. It's 100 percent natural fiber--not synthetic or supplemented. Its primary ingredient is guar gum, a natural fiber, but the various forms may contain other chemicals to help it maintain its form and shape. It contains no sugar, and it won't change the texture or flavor of food or drinks. Benefiber offers an easy way to get as much fiber as you need each day without having to eat serving after serving of dietary fiber, like vegetables and whole grains.

Forms of Benefiber

Benefiber is available as a chewable tablet, a caplet that you can swallow or a powder that you can mix in with drinks or food or sprinkle on top of a meal. You can choose between flavored or flavorless Benefiber products, as well as a number of container sizes. You can buy the powdered form in servings from 12 to 120, tablets from 36 to 100 count, and caplets in packages of 100 to 160 count.

Taking Benefiber

Most adults and teens can take up to 6 tsp. per day of Benefiber powder and up to three daily chewable tablets or capsules. You can buy the product in pre-measured packs so that they're even easier to track and take to ensure you get enough fiber each day. The U.S. National Library of Medicine recommends adults and teens consume between 20 and 35 g of fiber daily.
