A very restrictive low fat diet will cut all fats from the diet and may even limit the amount of oil or moisture used on the body. Although a popular choice for weight loss, the low fat diet has pros and cons. Any lasting weight loss requires permanent lifestyle changes without gimmicks or being too restrictive.

Balanced Nutrition

A diet that cuts out fats completely will also cut out fat soluble vitamins. Vitamins A, D, E and K rely on some fat to be ingested and absorbed. Balanced nutrition is essential to maintain a healthy, strong body long term. MayoClinic.com warns that eliminating foods completely results in nutritional problems, even with the addition of vitamins and supplements.

Enjoyment

A lifestyle change for long term goals should not beboring. MayoClinic.com says, for a diet plan to last, it must include foods that you will enjoy eating for life. Cutting out favorite foods permanently and completely results in binge eating, feelings of deprivation and rejecting the diet changes completely.

Female Fertility

In 2007, researchers from Harvard School of Public Health discovered that eating low fat dairy food every day can reduce a woman's fertility by affecting ovulation. The study found that low-fat dairy foods eaten regularly caused an increased in fertility problems in women.
