The treadmill panel, or console, is the brain of your NordicTrack treadmill. You control the speed, incline and preset workouts using the buttons on the console. The panel also displays information about your workout. Depending on the age and model of your treadmill, it shows approximate calories burned, elapsed time, distance covered, laps, speed, incline and heart rate.
Features
The features of your NordicTrack treadmill panel depend on the specific model of your machine. Some machines offer a music port for your mp3 player and a cooling fan. Newer NordicTrack treadmills feature iFit Live technology, which allows you to connect your treadmill to the internet wirelessly. You can download routines and an animated virtual personal trainer guides you through your workout.
Troubleshooting
If your treadmill panel doesn't work or displays only zeros, the first step is to replace the batteries, if applicable. Some NordicTrack consoles take batteries. If you're not sure whether your treadmill panel uses batteries, check your owner's manual. If it does use batteries, replace them with fresh ones.
Reed Switch
If new batteries doesn't fix the panel, NordicTrack next recommends checking the reed switch. This involves removing the motor hood and working with a magnet and the reed switch near the front pulley. NordicTrack provides instructions for adjusting the reed switch in the user's manuals and on its website. If you attempt to adjust the reed switch, make sure you remove the magnetic safety key from the console and unplug the machine before you remove the motor hood cover.
