How to Get Rid of Sagging Skin

Sagging skin on your stomach, thighs or arms can be the result of dramatic weight loss or pregnancy. When you have loose skin, wearing clothing like shorts or sleeveless shirts can make you self-conscious about saggy areas. When you experience weight gain and weight loss, your skin stretches and may lose its elasticity, resulting in loose skin. Making changes in your daily habits help tighten saggy areas to give skin a more toned appearance.

Step 1

Exfoliate your skin daily to increase circulation, shed dead skin cells, encourage new skin cell production and improve skin's elasticity. Massage skin in the shower with a body scrub or loofah twice per day.

Step 2

Consume foods that contain antioxidants including vitamins A, C, D and E to increase collagen and elasin production. Stock up on foods like dark green leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes, apricots, carrots, tomatoes and grapefruit.

Step 3

Apply a skin firming lotion or cream to give saggy areas a tighter appearance. Look for lotions that contain ingredients like aloe vera extract, yeast extract and soy protein which help improve the production of collagen and elastin.

Step 4

Increase your water intake to flush toxins and keep skin hydrated. Aim for at least eight cups of water per day.

Step 5

Engage in resistance training workouts three to four days per week to build muscle and fill in loose areas. Use free weights, body weight or exercise bands as resistance. Perform exercises like push-ups, bicep curls, chest press, overhead shoulder press, tricep dips and lunges for three sets of 15 repetitions. Use moderately heavy resistance. Completing 12 repetitions should be a challenge.
