Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world, according to "Techniques of Healthy Cooking," with water being No. 1. Green tea is commonly enjoyed warm or iced. In addition to its light flavor, Chinese green tea touts a variety of health benefits, according to "Making Plant Medicine," including increasing the efficiency of your metabolism and providing cancer-fighting antioxidants. Though Chinese green tea should not be used to treat any health conditions without first consulting your physician, it can be enjoyed as a healthy, easy-to-make beverage.
Step 1
Measure the amount of Chinese green tea leaves needed for your tea. "Techniques of Healthy Cooking" suggests using 1 tsp. per cup for a light flavor and 2 tsp. per cup for a stronger flavor.
Step 2
Add the amount of water sufficient for the tea you will be making into the teapot.
Step 3
Heat the water in the teapot to 175 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the optimal temperature for green tea.
Step 4
Pour the Chinese green tea leaves into the teapot and allow them to seep for three minutes.
Step 5
Place the basket filter over the mug. Pour the tea into the mug, allowing the basket filter to catch the Chinese green tea leaves.
