Sinus infections, and the subsequent cough, congestion, headaches and fatigue that comes along with them are less than pleasant. The University of Maryland Medical Center reports that sinus infections that cause facial pain, swelling or a fever over 102.2 degrees F should be evaluated by a physician immediately. However, people with less severe infections usually help their condition by eating certain foods, drinking lots of fluids and taking over-the-counter or doctor-prescribed medication.

Pineapple

To help your sinus infection, eat pineapples for their bromelain, an enzyme that may help relieve sinusitis symptoms. Bromelain contains anti-inflammatory properties that can potentially aid in inflammation and swelling reduction in the nasal passages, according to an article published in in the August 2001 issue of "Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences."

Yogurt

Yogurt contain lactobacillus, a probiotic or "friendly" bacteria that may contribute to reducing allergies that can aggravate sinus infections. Probiotics found in yogurt can also help if you are taking antibiotics for sinusitis by strengthening your immune system. Only buy yogurt that contains live active cultures, as these contain healthy amounts of probiotics.

Vegetables and Fruits

Quercetin is a plant pigment enzyme responsible for the colors found in fruits and vegetables. This pigment also acts as an antihistamine. Quercetin is found in apricots, beets, celery, apples, citrus fruits, cruciferous vegetables like Brussel sprouts and broccoli, cherries, greens like kale and spinach, peppers, pears and peaches.
