Whether bulking up or cutting down, achieving your bodybuilding goals requires a strict dedication to what you eat. To keep your bodybuilding diet simple and easy, opt for a diet that is organized and requires eating the same foods everyday, notes BodyBuilding.com. If you want to bulk up, choose a diet that allows easy high calorie snacks, such as weight gainer shakes, in between meals.

Clean Eating Diets

Diets that promote eating foods that are not refined or processed claim they will help you lose body fat and increase lean muscle mass. This type of diet requires eating five to six meals a day that consist of lean protein such as lean beef, chicken, turkey, fish and tofu, complex carbohydrates such as wild or brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, whole-grain bread, pasta and cereal, fresh fruits and vegetables and essential fatty acids such as nuts, seeds, avocados and dark chocolate, according to Tosca Reno, author of the "Eat Clean Diet."

Cycling Diets

Diets that rotate the amount of carbohydrates and protein you have on given days are called cycling diets. These diets claim they provide the body with the ability to make a metabolic switch to help increase muscle mass and burn body fat. This type of diet allows you to eat a wide variety of foods, keeping your focus on only the amount of carbs and protein you consume daily. Most cycling diets rotate high carb days 1 to 2 days a week with low carb days 3 to 4 days a week and no carb days 1 day a week, according to "Muscle and Fitness" magazine.

No Sugar Diets

Diets that restrict sugar and sweets claim that cutting out these foods drops excess calories as well as stabilizes your blood sugar levels to help increase lean muscle mass and decrease body fat, according to Lou Schuler, author of "The Testosterone Advantage Plan: Loose Weight, Gain Muscle, Boost Energy." This type of diet requires you to eat four to six meals a day consisting of 33 percent low-glycemic carbohydrates, lean proteins and good fats and avoid all sugar, including candy, cakes, cookies, pastries, alcohol, sodas and high sugar fruit juices.
