GNC, or General Nutrition Centers, is one of the world's largest nutrition and supplement stores. With a commitment to "Living Well," GNC offers a variety of nutritional products including vitamins, herbs, sports nutrition, weight loss products and body cleansing products. The Total Body Cleanse system from GNC contains a specific blend of ingredients, but some of the ingredients may raise safety concerns.
Features
Despite the research and development behind every GNC product, including the Total Body Cleanse, there are still safety concerns with the intended function and ingredients. The Total Body Cleanse system is designed to support digestive health by improving blood circulation and cleansing the liver and colon. Consult a physician before using Total Body Cleanse to prevent any negative side effects from the individual ingredients.
Time Frame
Total Body Cleanse is designed for a seven-day time frame. The separate formulas in the kit include a gastro formula, total cleanser, blood circulation formula, liver cleanser, kidney formula, enzyme blend, fiber, prebiotic and probiotic that must be consumed every day during the seven days. Taking the morning and evening formulas without reading the supplement directions could lead to an overdose on a specific ingredient or decreased results.
Features
Each phase of the cleansing system contains a specific set of features. For example, the first phase includes herbal extracts, amino acids and antioxidants designed to start the cleansing process. The second phase contains natural acacia fiber that is said to remove toxins from the digestive tract, while phase three contains essential vitamins, minerals and digestive enzymes that promote healthy bowel movements. Each feature, however, has the potential for producing negative side effects. Potential side effects include allergic reactions to the ingredients, limited results and an increase in bowel movements.
Storage
After opening the cleansing system, GNC recommends that it be stored in a cool, dry place with a temperature ranging from 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The refrigerator or other cool place will be sufficient for preventing the cleansing system from spoiling. Always keep Total Body Cleanse out of reach of children.
Considerations
While the ingredients to the Total Body Cleanse are free from artificial flavors and ingredients along with potential food allergens such as soy, dairy, wheat, gluten and yeast, the cleansing system could still contain other food allergens. Consulting your physician can help to identify these potential safety concerns. GNC recommends discontinuing use of Total Body Cleanse two weeks prior to surgery.
