Americans spend about $35 billion a year on weight-loss products, according to CBS News, yet still around 65 percent of American adults are overweight. The main cause of our weight dilemma is likely the abundance of super-sized, sugary and fattening foods combined with little physical activity.
Step 1
Incorporate fun exercise into your everyday life. Rather than buying fitness equipment that turns into a coat hanger, or a gym membership that will never be utilized, do something you love. Don't be afraid to try something new, like belly dancing or hula classes. If you have children, play tag or sports with them. If you like to workout at home, try walking, yoga or pilates videos, or even run up and down your stairs throughout the day. Exercising brings on a plethora of health benefits, including burning calories for weight loss.
Step 2
Make a list of foods that are lethal to your fitness goals. Certain unhealthy and processed foods trigger you to eat more. Common problem foods are fried foods (including chips) and anything containing white sugar or flour. Avoid the foods on your list as much as possible.
Step 3
Consume 2-3 tbsp of organic, virgin coconut oil every day. Virgin coconut oil will kill bacteria and yeast in your body, giving you more energy. It will also clear out your intestines, ridding your body of stored fat and chemicals. You can eat it plain or use in virtually any recipe in place of oil or butter.
Step 4
Sleep 8 hours every night. Losing sleep causes hormonal imbalance. Even if you diet and exercise, you could stay the same weight or gain weight when you don't get proper rest.
Step 5
Set realistic goals. Losing 2 lbs a week is a healthy goal and gives you the best chance at keeping it off.
