Joint pain can be uncomfortable or even disabling, and can disrupt your daily activities. According to the Arthritis Foundation, some research has shown that changes in diet and increasing intake of certain foods may be beneficial in reducing pain and inflammation.
Strawberries
A study published in 2007 in the "Journal of the American College of Nutrition" demonstrates that strawberries may reduce high levels of C-reactive protein, a sign of inflammation. Other fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C, such as oranges and cantaloupe, may also help reduce inflammation and promote healthy collagen formation.
Salmon
Salmon and other fatty fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce inflammation, a common cause of joint pain, according to Arthritis Today.
Nuts
Almonds, walnuts, and some seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which may be able to help ease joint pain.
Vegetables
Pain and inflammation can stem from an imbalance of omega-6 fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids, states Arthritis Today. Decrease omega-6 fatty acids by increasing your intake of vegetables and reducing foods such as processed meats, fried foods and junk food.
Olive Oil
According to Arthritis Today, olive oil may help reduce inflammation and decrease pain sensitivity. Use olive oil in place of other oils when cooking or in salad dressings.
