Fuel treadmills are not well known but they may be a good deal for someone needing a low-cost treadmill. Just because they are inexpensive doesn't mean they won't work, but if they do quit working then some troubleshooting solutions can be the answer. Preventive care such as cleaning the treadmill periodically to ensure that nothing blocks the air inlets or builds up on the walking belt may solve problems before they start. For everything else, gather the tools that came with your Fuel treadmill and make adjustments.
Display Doesn't Light
Step 1
Check that the safety tether cord is on the display. The safety tether cord has a small magnet that must be put on the console control head for the treadmill to operate.
Step 2
Push the plug firmly into the wall outlet.
Step 3
Push in the circuit breaker until it locks if the breaker has tripped. The circuit breaker is located on the front grill.
Step 4
Locate the correct circuit breaker for your home and check that it hasn't tripped. Reset it if necessary.
Treadmill Belt Hesitates or Moves Off-center
Step 1
Ensure that you put equal weight onto each foot as you walk. Walking or running while favoring one side can pull the belt out of position.
Step 2
Unplug the treadmill and remove the tether cord. Locate the left rear adjustment bolt to make adjustments. Only adjust the left bolt.
Step 3
Use the 6 mm Allen wrench to turn the bolt 1/4 turn at a time until the belt is centered. Make 1/4 turn and then run the treadmill to see if the belt centers. Stop the treadmill and turn the bolt another 1/4 turn if the belt is still off center or is not running smoothly. Turn the bolt in the opposite direction if the problem has become worse.
Lubricating the Belt
Step 1
Unplug the treadmill and remove the tether cord. Use the 6 mm Allen wrench to loosen both the left and right rear adjustment bolts with approximately five to 10 counter-clockwise turns. Use the same number of turns for each belt. Check that you can get both of your hands under the belt so that you know it is loose enough.
Step 2
Wipe the deck with a clean, lint-free cloth. Squeeze lubricant on a one-foot line parallel to the motor cover and about 18 inches away from the cover, or in the spot that your feet hit while using the machine. Use the entire tube.
Step 3
Tighten the rear roller bolts the same number of turns you loosened them. Plug the treadmill back in, put the tether cord on the console and turn the treadmill on at a speed of 6 mph. Let the treadmill run for five minutes before use.
Tips and Warnings
- Vacuum beneath your treadmill at least once a month and also vacuum under the motor hood once a year in addition to general cleaning.
- Never try to fit your treadmill's plug into an ungrounded outlet. The plug is designed only for grounded outlets. Check with a serviceman or electrician if you are unsure if the outlet is grounded properly.
