Italian pasta salad is typically made with pasta shapes, chopped vegetables and a salad dressing such as vinaigrette or mayonnaise. The total calorie content of Italian pasta salad will vary depending on the brand you buy or the recipe you follow. Some pasta salad brands and recipes also contain a protein food source, such as cheese or tuna.

Cheese

A serving of Italian pasta salad that contains 3 oz. of cooked pasta, 1 oz. of mozzarella cheese cubes, 1/2 oz. of sliced black olives and 2 tbsp. of red wine vinaigrette dressing would provide about 325 calories.

Tuna

A 3 oz. serving of pasta shapes prepared using 2 oz. of drained tuna, 4 tbsp. of chopped pepper and 2 tbsp. of regular mayonnaise contains about 335 calories. The same recipe prepared with reduced-fat mayonnaise has about 290 calories.

Regular

Italian pasta salad prepared by using only 3 oz. of pasta, 2 tbsp. of balsamic vinaigrette and 2 oz. of chopped, raw mixed vegetables, such as bell peppers, garlic, onions and olives, would contain about 225 calories.
