According to the Harvard University, a person weighing 125 lbs. can burn between 210 and 315 calories during 30 minutes of stationary cycling. A person weighing 155 lbs. can burn around 260 and 391 calories. A person weighing 185 lbs. can burn between 311 and 466 calories.

According to the iVillage website, working out on a stationary bike helps to strengthen the heart and aids in the strengthening of the hamstring, gluts and quads.

No Impact

Cycling, a no-impact activity, is good for people who suffer from hip or knee problems as it does not place stress on ligaments or joints.
